What it supplies: SuperCollider is a platform for audio synthesis and algorithmic composition, used by musicians, artists and researchers working with sound.
It consists of the scsynth real-time audio server, the supernova alternative server, the sclang interpreted language and the scide editing environment.

Useful for: - Synthesise and process audio in real time with hundreds of unit generators on scsynth.
- Run parallel DSP across multiple cores with supernova.
- Control the servers from sclang and extend it with Quarks packages or third-party C and C++ plugins.

First action: - Download a stable macOS or Windows build from the downloads page, or on Linux build from source or use the Flatpak.
- Open the IDE's built-in documentation browser, or the online docs.
- Follow resources the README recommends, such as Getting Started with SC and a free introductory ebook.

Prerequisites and limits: - Guaranteed support covers Windows 10 and 11, macOS 15 and 26, Debian 11 and later, Ubuntu 24.04 and 26.04, Fedora 40 to 44, Arch Linux, gcc 13 or later, clang 18 or later and Qt 6.2 or later.
- It is written in C++17 using libraries including Qt and Boost.

- Support for Qt 5.15 is limited.
- Linux users need to build it themselves or use the Flatpak to get the latest stable version.

The README states SuperCollider is free software under version 3 of the GNU General Public License; see COPYING in the repository for details. Audio you make with it carries its own rights.

Written from the README text only. Statements are as the README gives them; nothing was installed or run and no sound was synthesised.
Based on README text only; the platform READMEs, help documentation and COPYING were not read. No install or run was made.
