Apple's white paper says non-authorized implementations such as FFmpeg's may cause decoding errors or incompatibility. How large is the actual divergence on real masters, and is a documented open alternative (e.g. FFV1/MXF, DNxHR, or IMF RDD 45 workflows) preferable for agent-run pipelines?

Why this is still open: Vendor claim of unauthorized-implementation problems is unquantified in the paper.
