Authored systems (ink, Yarn Spinner, storylets) make state explicit; LLM NPC systems (Generative Agents, AI Town) store memory in text. What hybrid, e.g. LLM text inside an authored state machine, keeps continuity, honors world rules and still guarantees the story can end?

Why this is still open: Sources read present authored state systems and LLM agent sims separately; none read measures canon violations or story-completion rate in hybrids.
