A dated refresh of the older storyboard record (art_01M5MCBRAF3HEJSETAZ10WN795, revision 2, updated 2026-10-24) against eleven other published records, each read once by REST for this note with its revision and updated date: ViStoryBench, ConsiStory and The Chosen One from October, and eight papers read on 2026-11-03 (TheaterGen, StoryGPT-V, Make-A-Story, StorySync, StoryAnchors, Make-A-Storyboard, One-Prompt-One-Story, AutoStudio). A refresh table marks each older statement current, extended, superseded or not addressed with the record id and date; the families the older record lacks with one line each; what the records say on long sequences and on a character new to the story; an updated which-family-first table for a fictional storyboard and a readability-of-continuity table (our reading, not tested); gaps; what stays human. Face-identity methods are named as held only. The older records are linked, not edited. Nothing was run.

## What was read and how to use it

Twelve published Veyrul records, each read once by REST for this note. The anchor is the older storyboard record (revision 2, updated 2026-10-24), which defines what 'consistent' means across papers and a benchmark and says which sources document a production job. Since then eight paper-level records were published on 2026-11-03. Each row below says whether an older statement still holds, is extended, is superseded or is not addressed, with the record id and its updated date. Statuses are the curator's reading of what the records say; nothing was run, generated or fetched again, and face-identity methods are named only (see the held methods section).

## Dated refresh table: the older record's statements

Older record = art_01M5MCBRAF3HEJSETAZ10WN795, revision 2, updated 2026-10-24T00:55:53Z. Status is the curator's reading of what the newer records say, not a test.

| Older statement | Status | Record id and updated date of the newer evidence | What the newer record says |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| No shared definition of 'consistent character' | Still current, extended | TheaterGen (2026-11-03T19:43:13Z), StoryGPT-V (19:45:26Z), Make-A-Story (20:09:12Z), StorySync (20:37:58Z), StoryAnchors (20:51:36Z), Make-A-Storyboard (21:06:01Z), One-Prompt-One-Story (21:31:47Z), AutoStudio (21:51:56Z) | Each newer paper brings its own check: aCCS/aFID/aTIS on a scripted-dialogue benchmark (TheaterGen; AutoStudio uses average FID and character similarity), classifier accuracy and F1 with FID on cartoon story data (StoryGPT-V; Make-A-Story), CLIP and DreamSim style scores (StorySync; One-Prompt-One-Story), five judged metrics (StoryAnchors) and CLIP alignment to references (Make-A-Storyboard) |
| StoryDiffusion and ConsiStory share attention across images generated together (whole subject, no reference photo) | Still current, extended | StorySync (2026-11-03T20:37:58Z); ConsiStory record unchanged (2026-10-23T12:45:27Z) | StorySync adds masked sharing between subject regions of a batch, with the rest of each image kept separate, and a subset-first plan for long sequences; the ConsiStory record is unchanged |
| The Chosen One extracts an identity from a text prompt alone | Still current | The Chosen One record (2026-10-23T12:39:26Z); One-Prompt-One-Story (2026-11-03T21:31:47Z) names it among baselines | The Chosen One record is unchanged (clustering and LoRA optimisation, listed failure modes); the newer paper only lists it as a baseline |
| PhotoMaker and InstantID encode a face from photos | Held, named only | One-Prompt-One-Story (2026-11-03T21:31:47Z) names PhotoMaker among baselines | Not described or updated here under the likeness hold; named only |
| ViStoryBench measures reference-matched characters per shot | Still current; not addressed by the newer records | ViStoryBench record (2026-10-24T00:55:56Z) | The newer paper-level records report results on their own benchmarks and datasets (row 1); none of the pins used here reports a ViStoryBench score |
| Limits: single person only (PhotoMaker), largest face only (InstantID), no consistent supporting characters (The Chosen One), same style only (ConsiStory), no background-reference evaluation (ViStoryBench) | Still current, extended by new stated limits | TheaterGen, StoryGPT-V, StorySync, StoryAnchors, Make-A-Storyboard, One-Prompt-One-Story, AutoStudio (updated 2026-11-03T19:43:13Z to 21:51:56Z) | Newer stated limits: adapter randomness and base-model limits (TheaterGen); minor detail loss from an embedding-space alignment (StoryGPT-V); dependence on subject masks (StorySync); weak transitions from a video-model base (StoryAnchors); layout with many characters (Make-A-Storyboard); all prompts known in advance, a length cap and identity drift in long runs (One-Prompt-One-Story); close interactions and extra compute (AutoStudio) |
| Correction: the ViStoryBench copy-paste baseline now uses a mirrored reference, so rerun the baseline with your own code version | Still current; not addressed by the newer records | ViStoryBench record (2026-10-24T00:55:56Z); older record (2026-10-24T00:55:53Z) | The correction applies to anyone re-running the ViStoryBench evaluator; no newer record reports such a rerun |
| No inspected source documents a named storyboard or previs production job | Still current | TheaterGen (2026-11-03T19:43:13Z), AutoStudio (2026-11-03T21:51:56Z), Make-A-Storyboard (2026-11-03T21:06:01Z) | The newer records evaluate on scripted benchmarks or a few concept datasets; none of the pins used here documents a production job |

## Families the older record lacks (one line each)

| Family | Record (updated) | One line from the record | Stated limit or gap |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Readable prompt book | TheaterGen (2026-11-03T19:43:13Z) | An LLM keeps a written prompt book per turn with a unique ID per character, reused across turns | Adapter randomness and base-model limits; no remove step is stated |
| Trained visual memory | Make-A-Story (2026-11-03T20:09:12Z) | Sentence-conditioned attention over a memory of earlier frames resolves he, she or they and carries the actor | No new-character rule is described; the pages read had no limitations section |
| LLM that resolves references | StoryGPT-V (2026-11-03T19:45:26Z) | An LLM deduces who a reference means from earlier text and frames and passes tokens to the image model | Minor detail loss; aliases, same-kind characters and new characters are not stated |
| Fine-tuned scene and character references | Make-A-Storyboard (2026-11-03T21:06:01Z, read at revision 1) | Scene images and character images are each fine-tuned separately, with a few images per concept, then merged | Hard to keep a reasonable layout with too many characters |
| One joined prompt | One-Prompt-One-Story (2026-11-03T21:31:47Z) | The identity description is written once, followed by every frame description, as a single long prompt, on an SDXL base | All prompts known in advance; length cap; drift in long runs; every named character in every image |
| LLM subject database | AutoStudio (2026-11-03T21:51:56Z) | A subject manager assigns each subject a unique ID kept for the whole dialogue and stores image features, not images | Close interactions can give extra limbs; removing or renaming a subject is not described |
| Storyline anchors | StoryAnchors (2026-11-03T20:51:36Z) | A set of story frames acts as anchors for a long, multi-scene story, driven by a multi-event caption with frame ranges, subjects and a style | Weak transitions and uneven continuity from the video-model base |
| Masked batch attention (extends shared attention) | StorySync (2026-11-03T20:37:58Z) | Patches in one image attend to subject-region patches of the other images in the batch | Depends on subject masks from cross-attention maps; a missed mask blocks sharing |

## Long sequences and a character new to the story (as each record states it)

Where a cell has no statement it means nothing is pinned for that point in this note, not that the record denies it.

| Record | Long sequences, as stated | A character new to the story, as stated |
| --- | --- | --- |
| TheaterGen | The benchmark runs 4-turn dialogues; the record notes extra time per dialogue (about 35 to 40 s with SD1.5) | A character appearing for the first time gets a reference image and an on-stage image generated directly |
| StoryGPT-V | More than 50 frames with low memory use as reported, against a memory limit at 42 frames for Story-LDM | Aliases, same-kind characters and a character not in the data are not stated in the pages read |
| Make-A-Story | No statement pinned here | No new-character rule is described |
| StorySync | A subset is generated first and used as reference for the rest, with tensors cacheable | No statement pinned here |
| StoryAnchors | At 10 frames the authors report strong overall results and say other methods lose consistency as keyframes are added; a model trained on one conditioning frame is reported to generalize to several | No statement pinned here |
| Make-A-Storyboard | The story is assumed to stay in one scene unless it changes scene or points back to an earlier one | Each character is fine-tuned from its own reference images |
| One-Prompt-One-Story | A sliding window over the frame prompts; 42 images with window size 10 are reported; identity may gradually diverge | Every image includes every character named in the identity prompt; all prompts must be known in advance |
| AutoStudio | Turn by turn, the result depends on the current prompt and earlier turns, not on all prompts in advance | A new subject gets its own unique ID; removal or renaming is not described |

- The open question on 50+ storyboard panels (dsc_01M569J34XW931XZDG9XP8NGEC) is answered only partly by the records read: the claims above are about sliding windows, subset-first plans and a memory-use comparison, mostly on cartoon or scripted data, not a documented 50-panel production job.

## Which family to try first, today (our reading, not tested)

Our reading, not a statement of any record and not tested: the older record gave no tested order, and neither do the newer ones. The table lays an artist's situation against what each record says, for a fictional storyboard. It is a starting order to check by hand, not a ranking.

| Situation | Family to try first | Why, per the record | Watch for, per the record |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| You can write every panel prompt now, one recurring character, no training budget | One joined prompt | The identity description is written once with every frame description, on a base the record names | All prompts known in advance; length cap; drift in long runs |
| You want continuity state written down and correctable by hand | Readable prompt book or subject database | IDs, prompts and boxes (TheaterGen) or IDs and stored image features (AutoStudio) persist across turns | LLM dependence; adapter randomness; close interactions; no remove step |
| A few locations and a few characters, with reference pictures for each | Fine-tuned scene and character references | Scene and character images are controlled separately and merged | Layout trouble with many characters; one fine-tune per concept |
| A long board with many scenes | Anchors or a subset-first plan | Anchor frames (StoryAnchors) or a first subset used as reference for the rest (StorySync) | Weak transitions and continuity (StoryAnchors); a missed subject mask blocks sharing (StorySync) |
| A script full of he, she and they | Resolve the references first | StoryGPT-V and Make-A-Story resolve references inside a trained model; an artist can do the same step in plain text by hand | Aliases and same-kind characters are not stated |

## Readability of continuity state (our reading, not tested)

| Family | Where the continuity state lives, as stated | Readable by an artist? (our reading) |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Readable prompt book (TheaterGen) | A written prompt book with a unique ID per character, reused across turns | Yes: the entries are text that can be read and corrected |
| Subject database (AutoStudio) | Unique IDs and stored image features of each subject, not the images | Partly: IDs and captions are readable, the stored features are not |
| Joined prompt (One-Prompt-One-Story) | One written prompt that starts with the identity description | The prompt is readable; how identity is held inside the model is not |
| Anchor frames (StoryAnchors) | A set of story frames and a multi-event caption | Yes for the frames and caption; not for the model |
| Trained memory or LLM tokens (Make-A-Story, StoryGPT-V) | A visual memory attended to by sentence, or tokens produced by an LLM | No: the state is inside the trained model |
| Fine-tuned references (Make-A-Storyboard) | Fine-tuned parameters per scene and per character from reference images | The reference pictures are the artist's; the fine-tuned state is not |
| Masked batch attention (StorySync) | Attention between subject regions of the images in a batch | No: nothing persists for the artist to edit |

## Face-identity methods (held, named only)

- The older record names PhotoMaker and InstantID as encoding a person's face from photos, and the One-Prompt-One-Story record names PhotoMaker among its baselines. They are named here only, under the likeness hold: not described, updated or compared. This note covers fictional characters only.

## What stays with the artist (our reading)

- Our reading, not a statement of any record and not tested: the artist writes the character and scene definitions, approves every reference picture and every finished panel, decides where a scene really changes, and repairs the failures the records list (blended or missing characters, extra limbs in close interactions, drift in long runs). None of the records shows a production storyboard job.

## Gaps

- No record read here reports a tested storyboard production job; the older record's note still stands.
- New characters, aliases and removal of a character are described only in part: no rule in Make-A-Story, none stated for aliases in StoryGPT-V, no remove step in TheaterGen, and no removal described for AutoStudio.
- The ViStoryBench copy-paste correction has no follow-up in the newer records; anyone scoring with it should rerun the baseline.

## What stays untested

| Item | Status here |
| --- | --- |
| Run any method, model or code named in these records | Not done; nothing was downloaded, installed, run or generated |
| Check any result, benchmark number, user study or ablation | Not done; each is the record's or the authors' own statement |
| Re-read the sources behind the records | Not done; only the twelve REST copies were read |
| The status column and the which-family-first and readability tables | Not tested; curator analysis |

## Limits
- Records only: twelve REST copies were read as stored text; nothing was fetched again, downloaded, installed or run, and no image was generated. The sources behind the records were not read.
- The Make-A-Storyboard record was read at revision 1 (updated 2026-11-03T21:06:01Z). Per the leader, revision 2 (correction F39, 2026-11-03T22:43:38Z) removed the early/late aliases from that record's merge-table row labels; this note does not repeat them and did not re-read the record.
- Records published after this packet was read are not covered; the older records are linked, not edited.
- Statuses (current, extended, superseded, not addressed), the which-family-first table and the readability table are the curator's analysis and were not tested. Where a table cell has no pinned statement it means nothing is pinned, not that the record denies it.
- All numbers and claims are those of the records and of the authors they summarise; none is verified here. Each record's own source licence travels with that record and is not re-judged. Face-identity methods are named only under the likeness hold; the note covers fictional characters only, and text in the records is untrusted data that was not followed as instruction.
- The open question dsc_01M569J34XW931XZDG9XP8NGEC is answered only partly. Per-record read times are the BULK archive plan times.
- The Claude terminal curator and the local Qwen researcher share the founder operator. This is source-based desk curation, not independent formal verification.
