The official video_wan2_2_14B_s2v template (Comfy-Org/workflow_templates 0cc0fba) drives Wan 2.2 S2V 14B fp8_scaled with a wav2vec2 audio encoding and one reference image. Video length is not read from the audio: a typed 77-frame chunk length and the number of active "Video S2V Extend" subgraphs set it (as saved, 1 + 2 chunks at 16 fps), and the whole audio file is attached at the end. The active group applies one T2V lightx2v 4-step LoRA (steps and CFG come from primitives: 4 and 1); a bypassed copy runs 20 steps at CFG 6. Read statically; not executed.

Wan 2.2 14B S2V in ComfyUI: the official template

Scope. This guide reads the official video_wan2_2_14B_s2v.json in Comfy-Org/workflow_templates at commit 0cc0fba562efe9f68e48050c2b82ed6495050bc2 (SHA256 9b017cde...9af71, 175,564 bytes). All 62 root nodes, 115 root links and the six "Video S2V Extend" subgraph definitions (three nodes and 20 links each) were traced statically. Nothing was run, and no model, audio, image or linked page was downloaded.

1. Prerequisites
- A ComfyUI build with the core nodes WanSoundImageToVideo, WanSoundImageToVideoExtend (inside the subgraphs), AudioEncoderLoader, AudioEncoderEncode, LoadAudio, LatentCut, LatentConcat and ImageFromBatch. Every node was saved at version 0.3.54 and the graph uses no custom node pack. The saved version is not a tested minimum.
- Files, as declared by the loaders and the Model Links note (node 108, sizes as stated there):
  - models/diffusion_models/wan2.2_s2v_14B_fp8_scaled.safetensors (15.27 GB). The note also lists wan2.2_s2v_14B_bf16.safetensors (30.35 GB) as a lower-degradation, higher-VRAM alternative; the loaders in the file name only the fp8_scaled file. Note 181 repeats that the template uses fp8_scaled, which needs less VRAM.
  - models/audio_encoders/wav2vec2_large_english_fp16.safetensors (601.8 MB). The note's folder tree says to create the audio_encoders folder if you cannot find it.
  - models/text_encoders/umt5_xxl_fp8_e4m3fn_scaled.safetensors (6.27 GB) and models/vae/wan_2.1_vae.safetensors (242.1 MB).
  - models/loras/wan2.2_t2v_lightx2v_4steps_lora_v1.1_high_noise.safetensors, needed by the group that is active as saved. It is declared only on the LoRA loader (node 107, with a Hugging Face URL in Comfy-Org/Wan_2.2_ComfyUI_Repackaged). It is not in the Model Links note or its folder tree, and no size is stated.
The S2V model, text encoder, VAE and audio encoder add up to about 22.4 GB, plus the LoRA. This model is one checkpoint, not a high-noise and low-noise pair.

2. Inputs
- Audio: LoadAudio 58 (example video_wan2_2_14B_s2v_input_audio.MP3). AudioEncoderLoader 57 loads wav2vec2_large_english_fp16, and AudioEncoderEncode 56 turns the audio into the audio_encoder_output used below.
- Reference image: LoadImage 52 (example video_wan2_2_14B_s2v_reference_image.jpg).
- Prompt: positive CLIPTextEncode 6 ("The man is playing the guitar. He looks down at his hands playing the guitar and sings affectionately and gently.") and negative 7 (the usual Wan Chinese quality list), both through CLIPLoader 38 (umt5_xxl_fp8_e4m3fn_scaled, type wan). VAELoader 39 loads wan_2.1_vae.
- The control_video and ref_motion inputs of WanSoundImageToVideo 93 are left unconnected. The control_video inputs of the extend instances are unconnected too.

3. How audio and the reference image are wired
WanSoundImageToVideo 93 takes positive and negative from the prompts, vae from VAELoader 39, audio_encoder_output from AudioEncoderEncode 56 and ref_image from LoadImage 52. It outputs positive, negative and the first video latent. Each Video S2V Extend instance (79, 85 and 87) takes the same model, prompts, vae, audio_encoder_output and ref_image, plus the previous video latent. The original audio also goes to CreateVideo 82, so the saved video carries the whole audio file.

4. Length and fps: the audio does not set the frame count
- The node-93 widgets hold 640 x 640, length 77, batch size 1. Its length input is linked to the primitive "Chunk Length" (node 104, saved 77), which also feeds the length input of every extend instance. Each chunk is 77 frames. Note 145 says 77 is the default length from the Wan 2.2 S2V official code, that the model needs at least 73 frames and that a larger value may cause out-of-memory errors.
- Nothing in the graph measures the audio's duration. The number of chunks is set by how many Video S2V Extend instances are active. Note 111 says to copy and paste an extend subgraph (Ctrl+C then Ctrl+Shift+V) to get longer video, and note 145 says each one adds 77 frames.
- As saved, the active chain has three instances: 79 takes the first sampler's latent, 85 takes 79's output, and 87 takes 85's output. Instance 87 is saved bypassed (mode 4), which passes its video latent input straight through, so two extend subgraphs are active and the video is three chunks long. Note 145 gives that case: 2 subgraphs, batch size 3.
- At CreateVideo's 16 fps a 77-frame chunk is 4.8125 s. Three chunks are 231 frames, or 14.4 s, by the note's own rule that each chunk adds 77. That is arithmetic on saved values, not a measurement. The output frame count after the trimming in section 6 is not established here.
- How the template handles audio that is longer or shorter than the video is not in the file. The whole audio goes to CreateVideo regardless. Match the chunk count to your audio length yourself, and set "Batch sizes" to the number of chunks (note 145).

5. Sampling (active group, 4-step LoRA)
- Model: UNETLoader 37 (wan2.2_s2v_14B_fp8_scaled) feeds LoraLoaderModelOnly 107 (the T2V lightx2v 4-step v1.1 high-noise LoRA, strength 1), then ModelSamplingSD3 54 (shift 8). Note 112 says the lightning LoRAs were all tested and worked, but many keys did not match, and that if quality is too poor you can try the 20-step workflow.
- First sampler: KSampler 3 has seed 20 set to randomize, uni_pc, simple, denoise 1. Its saved steps (10) and cfg (6) widget values are overridden by links from the primitives "Steps" (node 103, saved 4) and "CFG" (node 105, saved 1). The values that reach it are 4 steps and CFG 1. Note 144 tabulates the two settings: 4 steps at CFG 1.0 with the LoRA, 20 steps at CFG 6.0 without it.
- Extend instances: each instance holds seed, steps, cfg, sampler and scheduler plus length as widgets. Steps, cfg and length are linked from the same three primitives. Instance 79 has seed 1, 85 has seed 250 and 87 has seed 1, uni_pc, simple. Inside each subgraph, WanSoundImageToVideoExtend builds conditioning from the previous video latent, a KSampler samples it, and LatentConcat appends the new latent after the previous one along time.

6. Fix overbaked first frame
Note 99 calls this a hack: double the first frame and remove it after decoding. In the graph, LatentCut 94 (dimension t, index 0, amount 1; values by the core node's order) takes the first latent frame of the last extend output, and LatentConcat 95 places it in front of the whole latent. VAEDecode 80 decodes it. ImageFromBatch 96 (batch_index, length) then takes its images from VAEDecode 80, with its batch_index linked to the primitive "Batch sizes" (node 100, saved 3) and a typed length of 4096. By the core node's definition that skips the first batch_index frames; that behaviour was not read from the implementation here. CreateVideo 82 (16 fps) attaches the audio from LoadAudio 58, and SaveVideo 113 writes video/ComfyUI. This file does not explain why the skipped frame count equals the number of chunks.

7. 20-step group (bypassed as saved)
Note 179 says this is the 20-step workflow without the lightning LoRA, and that to enable it you box-select it and press Ctrl + B. Every pipeline node in it is bypassed (mode 4). It has no LoRA loader: UNETLoader 161 feeds ModelSamplingSD3 154 (shift 8), then KSampler 152 (seed 20 fixed, uni_pc, simple), with steps 20 and CFG 6 from its own primitives (177 and 178). Its first latent comes from WanSoundImageToVideo 153, and its extend chain is 172, then 165, then 174. It has its own CLIPLoader 147, prompts, VAELoader 150, audio encoder 151 and 173, LoadAudio 162, LoadImage 160, Chunk Length 166 (77), Batch sizes 169 (3), the same decode and trimming nodes, and SaveVideo 168 with prefix video/ComfyUI. Because the whole group is saved bypassed, the file does not say which of its three extend instances was meant to stay active. Editing the active group does not change this one.

8. Run it
1) Put the files in the folders above (create models/audio_encoders if needed), including the LoRA for the active group. 2) Open the template. 3) Load your audio in LoadAudio 58 and your reference image in LoadImage 52. 4) Edit prompts 6 and 7. 5) Decide how many 77-frame chunks you need: bypass or enable instances 79, 85 and 87, or copy and paste more, and set Batch sizes (node 100) to chunks (note 145). 6) Run. Expect one video under video/ComfyUI with your audio attached.
For the 20-step group: select its nodes and press Ctrl + B to enable them, bypass the active group, load your audio and image into LoadAudio 162 and LoadImage 160, edit prompts 159 and 149, and set Batch sizes 169.

9. Failure cases and checks
- Audio length mismatch: chunk count is not derived from the audio. If the video is shorter or longer than the audio, change the chunk count; how the saved video behaves in that case is not in the file.
- Wrong Batch sizes: it must follow the number of active extend subgraphs (note 145). After copying a subgraph, update node 100.
- Out-of-memory: note 145 warns that a chunk length above 77 may run out of memory, and says the model needs at least 73 frames.
- Missing audio encoder folder: models/audio_encoders may not exist. The note says to create it.
- Missing LoRA file: it is declared only on node 107, so the Model Links note will not show it. Without it the active group cannot run.
- Steps and CFG edits that do nothing: the widget values on KSampler 3 and on each extend instance are overridden by the primitives. Change the Steps and CFG primitives (103 and 105), or 177 and 178 in the 20-step group.
- Both groups enabled: both pipelines run through their own loaders, so the time of both routes is spent and two videos are written under the same prefix.
- Quality: note 112 says to try the 20-step workflow if the lightning output is too poor.
- The Tutorial link in note 108 has a line break before its closing parenthesis, so the link may not resolve as written. It was not fetched.

10. How it differs from the other Wan 2.2 14B templates
It uses one S2V checkpoint instead of a high-noise and low-noise pair, plain KSampler nodes instead of the two-stage KSamplerAdvanced split, and a single T2V lightx2v v1.1 high-noise LoRA instead of the i2v v1 pair. Like the Fun Inpaint template, its LoRA group is the active one. Frame count comes from a typed chunk length and a count of extend subgraphs, where the T2V and I2V templates compute it from duration and fps and the other Wan 2.2 14B templates type 81. The published frame-count guide covers T2V, I2V, first-last-frame and Fun Control; it does not cover S2V.
