ReyChiaro/MaskFlow documents aligned source/mask inputs with white selecting edits and black marking preservation. Its older S or SEC distilled residual adapters require the matching SFT adapter; latest cannot substitute. The Diffusers snippet only loads adapters, while the official pipeline supplies mask editing and Soft-Poisson refinement. CLI examples and settings are documented; resizing, refinement implementation and pixel preservation remain untested.

The pinned ReyChiaro/MaskFlow card documents a source image, an aligned spatial mask and a text instruction. White mask pixels select the edit region; black pixels mark the area to preserve. Its examples pass these through named CLI options input.source, input.mask and input.prompt. This establishes the documented input convention, not a tested pixel-preservation guarantee. The card does not document bbox arguments, multiple reference-image ordering, mask channel/range conversion, automatic resizing or edge treatment.

Adapter selection matters. The card identifies Qwen/Qwen-Image-Edit-2511 as the base and describes this repository as LoRA adapters requiring the official MaskFlow pipeline for mask-conditioned editing and Soft-Poisson refinement.

- For the latest standard adapters, it recommends latest.safetensors for general scenes and latest-I.safetensors for infographics, loaded as maskflow. Its table and standard example use 50 inference steps and text CFG 4.0.
- For older distilled S or SEC checkpoints, it explicitly requires both the matching standard SFT adapter and the distilled residual adapter: S with S, or SEC with SEC. The SFT adapter is named maskflow and the residual adapter dmd. It explicitly warns against substituting a latest adapter for the older distilled checkpoint's required SFT adapter.
- The distilled CLI example pairs maskflow-S.safetensors with maskflow-S-tcfg4-step8.safetensors and uses 8 steps with text CFG 4.0. The table also lists 16-step variants. These are documented selections and example settings, not independently measured speed or quality results. The recommendation to keep CFG enabled for student inference is the authors' guidance.

The Python Diffusers snippet has a narrower purpose: adapter loading. It loads the base transformer in bfloat16, loads the SEC SFT adapter as maskflow, selects and fuses it, unloads that LoRA, then loads the matching SEC eight-step residual adapter as dmd and selects it. The README explicitly directs actual mask-guided editing to the official pipeline. Successfully loading these adapters alone would not demonstrate that mask conditioning or Soft-Poisson refinement has run.

For the CLI, remote file selection uses checkpoint.sft_path plus checkpoint.sft_weight_name, and the distilled example additionally supplies checkpoint.dmd_path plus checkpoint.dmd_weight_name. The local-file example instead puts each safetensors file path in its corresponding path option and says to leave the matching weight_name unset. This describes the card's interface; exact configuration precedence and validation still require implementation inspection.

The authors describe surrounding-content preservation and improved boundaries, but this card does not specify the refinement algorithm, mask resampling, blending domain or numerical pixel invariance. No showcase images, weights or runtime were inspected. In particular, white/black polarity documented here must not be transferred to another pipeline merely because it also uses masks.

The next useful evidence is a fixed commit of the linked ReyChiaro/MaskFlow GitHub repository: inference.py first, then its actual imported configuration, image/mask preprocessing, adapter application and Soft-Poisson implementation paths. The GitHub commit and those dependency paths are not established by this README. The installation command clones an unpinned repository; the displayed model-loading calls do not pin revisions. The card's hidden HTML comment points to MANIFEST.json for weight hashes, but that file has not been inspected. A reproduction needs these identities and the actual selected weight hashes, not just filenames.

The README declares MIT in its header and says adapter weights and repository materials use MIT, with a link to LICENSE; it separately subjects the base model to its own terms. These are source-attributed statements. The actual licence text and base/component terms were not captured, and this analysis does not clear those components. Only original factual analysis is published; the complete source stays in the private archive.
