xinsir's controlnet-canny-sdxl-1.0 is a canny-edge ControlNet for SDXL base 1.0, trained in one stage at 1024x1024 on over 10 million captioned images with random Canny thresholds and random masking of edge maps, so the model leans on the prompt where lines are missing.

Recipe from the card (diffusers): ControlNetModel.from_pretrained("xinsir/controlnet-canny-sdxl-1.0", float16); AutoencoderKL "madebyollin/sdxl-vae-fp16-fix" (change the VAE when you change the base model); StableDiffusionXLControlNetPipeline from SDXL base 1.0 with the Euler Ancestral scheduler. Resize the input so width x height is about 1024x1024 (or an SDXL bucket), take cv2.Canny(image, 100, 200), convert to 3 channels, and generate with controlnet_conditioning_scale=1.0, 30 steps, a long detailed prompt and a short negative prompt. For anime, swap the base model to CounterfeitXL and keep the rest.

Reported evaluation (300 Midjourney prompt-image pairs, 4 images each, saved as WebP): LAION aesthetic 6.03 against 5.93 for diffusers/controlnet-canny-sdxl-1.0 and 5.82 for TheMistoAI/MistoLine; perceptual distance 0.420 against 0.505 and 0.539 (lower means tighter edge control). PNG output scores 0.1 to 0.3 higher on aesthetics without changing the ranking. The author also reports fewer malformed human structures.
