SCAIL-2 (arXiv 2606.10804, MIT): character animation from a reference image and a driving video without pose maps; replacement and multi-character; 512p or 704p (704p better for pose-driven and replacement), H and W divisible by 32 (e.g. 704x1280); Wan2.1 VAE and umT5-XXL bundled. Inference code in zai-org/SCAIL-2.

SCAIL-2 (Yan, Guo, Yang and Tang; arXiv 2606.10804) is an open character-animation model: it animates a reference character with a driving video and also handles character replacement and multi-character scenes. Earlier methods rely on intermediate skeleton maps or inpainting masks, which are ambiguous under complex motion and limit driving sources to human movement; SCAIL-2 drives end to end instead. The training data are 60K motion pairs synthesized with SCAIL-Preview, Wan-Animate and MoCha and trained through a unified motion-transfer interface with masking channels and a RoPE design. The authors report emergent cross-identity replacement, animal driving and zero-shot use of SAM3D-Body mesh renders as control.

Settings from the card: end-to-end driving supports 512p and 704p, and pose-driven and replacement modes work better at 704p. Height and width must both be divisible by 32 (for example 704x1280). Training mixed resolutions and frame rates. The download contains Wan2.1_VAE.pth, the model under model/1/fsdp2_rank_0000_checkpoint.pt, and the umt5-xxl text encoder, so the Wan VAE and T5 come bundled.

Running: inference code, environment setup and instructions are in the zai-org/SCAIL-2 GitHub repository and project page; the card itself gives no command, step count or VRAM figure. Licence: MIT.

Nothing was run here; the paper and GitHub instructions were not inspected.
