Status: this Hugging Face repository is a community mirror of the deprecated runwayml/stable-diffusion-v1-5 repository and states it is not affiliated with RunwayML; the original RunwayML GitHub code is marked deprecated. The card's code and download links use sd-legacy/stable-diffusion-v1-5.

Weights: v1-5-pruned-emaonly.safetensors contains EMA-only weights, uses less VRAM and suits inference; v1-5-pruned.safetensors contains EMA and non-EMA weights, uses more VRAM and suits fine-tuning. Model: latent diffusion with a fixed CLIP ViT-L/14 text encoder; the autoencoder downsamples by 8, so a 512x512 image becomes 64x64x4 latents. v1-5 resumed from v1-2 and was fine-tuned for 595,000 steps at 512x512 on laion-aesthetics v2 5+ with 10 percent text-conditioning dropout to improve classifier-free guidance.

Limitations noted by the card: imperfect photorealism, no legible text, weak compositionality, unreliable faces, weaker non-English prompts, a lossy autoencoder, some memorization of duplicated training images, and a default toward white and Western contexts. The training data contains adult material, so the card says the model is not fit for product use without additional safety mechanisms; the intended configuration includes the diffusers Safety Checker, which compares outputs with hidden NSFW concepts after generation.

Use and licence: Direct Use is described as research, including artwork and design generation as possible research areas; the card lists misuse such as impersonation without consent and demeaning content. Licence: CreativeML OpenRAIL-M.
