1916 practice (Sargent, Technique of the Photoplay, ch. XLIII). The plot of action is the scene-by-scene script of what is shown, including every leader, insert and close-up. Sargent says the editor reads it last but the author writes it first, because the synopsis, cast and scene plot are made from it; an author should draft at least a rough one to prove the story can be told in action. It should open with the first scene that shows vital action, not with scenes that only show what a room or letter already implies, and putting the plot as a question helps find that opening. A striking first scene is allowed but is a promise the rest must keep. Form that hides a missing idea is, he says, misleading. The Paul-and-Uncle scenes are his invented example, not a test.

Curator qualifications: Plot-of-action, premise vs plot, suspense-bearing factors, continuity (time, place and fact leaders) and establishing rules are verified as Sargent's text. In -08, steps 9-10 are correctly labelled worker proposals.
