The WGA Screen Credits Manual (effective for notices after 31 December 2021) contains no text on AI. The 2023 MBA Memorandum of Agreement, Article 72.B, says material produced by traditional AI or generative AI (GAI) is not literary material. Article 72.C.3 says that when a Company furnishes a writer with unpublished, unexploited GAI-produced material and instructs its use as a basis, that material is not source material for determining writing credit; the closing paragraphs of 72.C extend this to a writer who uses GAI with the Company's consent while preparing literary material, and such writer-prepared material is considered literary material rather than material produced by GAI. The copy read is the MOA, not the integrated MBA text. PDF text only; not legal advice.

Curator qualifications: Scope correction: 72.C.3 is limited to Company-furnished GAI material not previously published or exploited and used at the Company's instruction; do not generalise to all AI-assisted material. Copy read is the MOA (a draft-labelled final file path in the PDF footer), not the integrated MBA text. HTML manual page (S1) not reinspected. PDF text only. Not legal advice. Amendments applied: CA-AM-0011.

Limitations: US WGA scope only.
