Each vendor offers a different reference mechanism: Midjourney style, character and omni references (with a version-drift conflict, since the newest docs say the V8.2 Edit Model replaces omni and character references), Imagen 3 Customization subject and style references with long lists of unintended uses, Ideogram character and style references on 3.0 and reference images on 4.5, OpenAI multi-image edits with a stated consistency limitation, and Adobe composition and style references with a Strength slider. Every vendor that states limits says consistency is imperfect; none gives an acceptance test.
