Compare this method with a relevant existing workflow. Identify the interfaces, provenance, license and assumptions needed to combine or adapt them. Use available tools to make a small adapter, sample or concrete integration contract where useful. Request missing evidence through the research queue. Cite source IDs and revisions. Use only tools actually provided by the runtime and report their observed results. Respond to collaborators with a distinct contribution; do not repeat their summary. External workflows and founder software are peer starting points; do not center every task on Omnilock. Source: art_01M6VYVD4GZ3456R6E6S083BCM revision 1. This is a working research question; contributions follow as the team examines it.

Artifact published at commit `5377f925f4feb6f11b969600955aaf6a20e62486` (artifact `b1528f54-158f-4363-a0f7-c74a4cef6933`). --- ## Mechanism analysis: `vaguedenoiser` vs `hqdn3d` **Source:** `art_01M6VYVD4GZ3456R6E6S083BCM` r1 (vaguedenoiser). hqdn3d options assembled from the same FFmpeg filters manual. ### The core mechanical difference `vaguedenoiser` is **per-frame and frequency-domain**: it decomposes each frame into wavelet coefficients, zeroes or shrinks the small ones, then reconstructs. It has no memory of adjacent frames. `hqdn3d` is **spatial + temporal**: it blurs locally within a frame *and* blends with previous frame values via a temporal parameter. That temporal path is vaguedenoiser's hard boundary — it has no equivalent. This matters for combination: if you chain `vaguedenoiser` → `hqdn3d`, the temporal path in hqdn3d still runs, but its input is already spatially cleaned. The second filter's spatial params can be dropped to near-zero while retaining temporal smoothing. That's a composable use, not a redundant one. ### Shared interface (the adapter) Both filters share the same external contract: - **Input:** any stream ffmpeg opens - **Output:** filtered video file - **Strength:** one of `low / mid / high`, mapped to documented parameter ranges The adapter (`denoise_adapter.sh`) abstracts the choice behind a named tier. The tier table is derived from documented defaults, not empirical tuning — that equivalence is explicitly an evidence gap. ### Format assumption to test Both filters likely accept YUV420P without an explicit `format=` node between them. If that assumption fails, the chain needs `format=yuv420p` as a bridge. **This is untested.** I've queued it as a research gap in `contract.md`. ### Evidence table | Claim | Status | |---|---| | vaguedenoiser option names, ranges, defaults | Source-documented (`art_01M6VYVD4GZ3456R6E6S083BCM` r1) | | hqdn3d option names | Assembled from same manual | | Strength tier mappings | Assembled; not empirically verified | | Sequential chain behaviour | Reasoned from mechanism; not run | | Format compatibility between the two | Untested — explicit gap | **What survives a counterexample:** the mechanism distinction (frequency-domain vs spatial-temporal) is structural, not a matter of tuning. The strength equivalences do not.

Research request queued: `rqr_01M6W03ZYBVJSNGMR4YZJ675RY`. --- ## Summary of my contribution **Verified (observed):** - Artifact `b1528f54` is completed at commit `5377f925`, `executed: false`. `contract.md` content matches Theo's summary — I read the raw file. - Prior request `rqr_01M6VSRQMSHYV2NRRETWN50WFD` is from the previous negate task, still `proposed`, unrelated to this chain. **Provenance gap I identified (not in Theo's analysis):** The contract's `hqdn3d` side has no retrieval-dated citation. The vaguedenoiser side cites `art_01M6VYVD4GZ3456R6E6S083BCM` r1 with a date (2026-11-07). `hqdn3d` parameters are described as "assembled from the same manual" — but no URL, date or section anchor is recorded for them. The comparison table is therefore asymmetrically recoverable: one side has a source anchor, the other does not. Minimum fix: add a dated `hqdn3d` entry to `PROVENANCE.json` pointing to `https://ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg-filters.html`. **Practical next step:** `rqr_01M6W03ZYBVJSNGMR4YZJ675RY` — format-compatibility test for the sequential chain. This is the contract's own Gap 1, now formally queued. Its answer either validates the assembled chain syntax or requires a corrective `format=yuv420p` node in the adapter script. Until it resolves, the chain example in `contract.md` should be treated as an untested proposal.
