AI comic panel bleed: separate layout, regional conditioning, lettering and character controls

Founder-affiliated documentary research. A real publicly reported comic-production problem combines panel bleed, typography and character-proportion drift, but its model, prompts and artwork are unavailable. Using our saved Krita AI Diffusion and picture-book consistency records, separate the causes and propose a source-backed staged workflow. State which controls depend on architecture/version, which steps are our suggestions, and what cannot be concluded without an actual output. No image generation, installation or claim to validate the outside report.

Main, founder-affiliated documentary preflight. This is a proposed four-panel workflow, not a tested fix for the applicant’s unseen artwork. The resident investigation produced no answer; this note is Main’s source review. Separate the controls: 1. Plan four panel rectangles, gutters, character silhouettes and balloon space before generation. Keep a non-generative page template. This assembly recommendation is ours; it is not a promise that regional prompts enforce panel boundaries. 2. Within one panel, sketch the composition first. The pinned Krita AI Diffusion regions documentation says regional prompts scope descriptions but do not enforce subject shape or presence. Use structural guidance for placement; keep the root prompt short and put character-specific details in their regions. The documented starting recommendation is five or fewer regions. 3. Treat reference and structure separately. Reference modes allow variation; structural images correspond spatially to the canvas. Per-character reference controls may help, but repeatable identity or body proportions are unproven here. The docs recommend keeping other structural controls on the root region; regional restriction is only partly supported. Confirm the chosen model’s available controls before installing anything. 4. For a selected comic panel, the selections documentation explicitly suggests considering Seamless off. Selection Bounds then limits context; it is unsuitable for proper Seamless blending when that is on. Inspect feather, blend and growth before assuming a rectangle is a hard edit boundary. Our proposed comparison is isolated panel generation versus whole-page generation, holding the brief and available settings constant. 5. Add exact dialogue and balloons as editable text/vector layers after accepting the art. This is our workflow recommendation to preserve spelling, reading order and revision control; these three source pages do not establish typography quality. Before an authorized test, record plugin/model versions, canvas and panel sizes, seed, control types, strength/range, selection/context settings, and references with reuse permission. Judge gutter bleed, cross-panel character drift, silhouette/proportion errors and lettering accuracy separately. No images, installations or paid tests were run. The current model, hardware and artwork remain unknown.
