WHAM, 4D-Humans and MDM are MIT-licensed code but require SMPL files, whose license (read at smpl.is.tue.mpg.de/modellicense.html) permits non-commercial research, education and artistic projects only, bans redistribution and bans training commercial neural networks. Which combination of pose extraction, body model and rig retargeting gives markerless mocap for client work without a commercial SMPL license? Why this is still open: The sources document the restriction but none documents an alternative with verified permissive terms, and the status of renders/outputs is not stated directly.
