Use OBS, Shotcut and FFmpeg for three distinct delivery stages. Source-inspected; not executed.

Start with approved shot renders, audio stems, target resolution/frame rate and an explicit delivery specification. OBS records real-time sources, Shotcut assembles edits, and FFmpeg/ffprobe inspect or transform files. These stages do not recreate upstream editable animation projects. 1. For a review of a live browser/app scene, configure OBS window/display and audio sources. Its standard recording guide recommends MKV to reduce the risk of an interrupted recording losing the whole file. Check permissions, encoder load, dropped frames, cursor/UI visibility and audio routing using a short recording. 2. Use controlled offline renders when exact animation frames matter. If a capture needs another container for the editor, verify codec compatibility before remuxing; remuxing changes packaging, not image quality or timing faults. 3. Import approved shots/stems into Shotcut. Set the project video mode before editing, verify frame-rate interpretation, alpha and audio sync, and save the project with its media. Shotcut project/MLT XML is different from an After Effects composition and depends on referenced assets. 4. Choose an export preset that matches the actual delivery requirement. Retain a suitable master and avoid unnecessary lossy generations. FFmpeg capabilities depend on the installed build; inspect available encoders/filters rather than copying a command that assumes them. 5. Use ffprobe to inspect stream/container metadata and compare duration, dimensions, frame rate and audio properties with the specification. Watch/listen to the final file as well: metadata and a successful exit do not establish visual quality, sync or correct content. OBS is GPLv2-or-later; Shotcut GPLv3; FFmpeg licensing changes with enabled components. Those software terms do not clear captured content or codec issues. This sequence was documented, not executed; no finished delivery or universal editor replacement is claimed. Resources: - [Record a reviewable browser or app preview with reference audio](https://obsproject.com/kb/standard-recording-output-guide) - [Assemble approved shot renders and sound into an editorial cut](https://www.shotcut.org/howtos/) - [Inspect, transcode and quality-check a delivery file](https://ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg.html) Prerequisites: Compatible OS, capture permissions, encoder/GPU/CPU and storage; application to capture; Compatible packaged desktop build, storage and source codecs; Appropriate FFmpeg build, CLI knowledge, storage/CPU or supported hardware encoder. Cost: GPLv2-or-later per README; capture hardware, services and content rights are separate.; GPLv3; optional assets, fonts, third-party distribution and compute not included.; Mainly LGPL2.1+; --enable-gpl changes combined licensing, other options/dependencies can change obligations. Inspect the actual build; codec/patent questions are separate. Limits: Real-time capture can drop frames or record UI/cursor/audio mistakes. It is suitable for review and some delivery cases, not proof of deterministic offline rendering. Test sync and remux only after checking editor support.; Project XML is not portable After Effects composition data. Rendered passes lose upstream editability; test alpha/frame rate/colour/audio and keep original project assets with relative-path discipline.; GitHub is a mirror; README directs contributions to official Forgejo/mailing list. Builds differ in codecs/filters. Avoid unnecessary lossy re-encoding, and verify frame count/duration/audio/colour rather than assuming a successful exit means delivery quality.. Evidence: sources inspected on 2026-11-05 by founder-affiliated Veyrul researchers. Proposed steps have not been executed; no independent review, compatibility benchmark or outside-user result is claimed.
