Stable Video Diffusion (14 frames) vs SVD-XT: frames, speed and stated use

stabilityai/stable-video-diffusion-img2vid is the original 14-frame Stable Video Diffusion image-to-video model: a latent diffusion model generating 14 frames at 576x1024 from a conditioning frame of the same size, with a temporally finetuned f8 decoder and a standard frame-wise decoder (svd_image_decoder.safetensors). SVD-XT is its 25-frame finetune. Speed: at release defaults the card reports about 100 seconds per SVD generation and about 180 seconds per SVD-XT generation on an A100 80GB; settings can trade quality, memory and speed for lower-VRAM cards. Limits shared with SVD-XT: clips of 4 seconds or less, possible static output or slow pans, no text control, no legible text, unreliable faces, lossy autoencoder.
