How does Google Photos present IPTC-based AI info, and when does the section disappear?

Problem. Whether a Google Photos 'How this was made' panel is reliable. Conditions. Photo with IPTC metadata only. Method. Open info panel and scroll to 'How this was made', or use Lens > About this image. Failure modes. Panel missing when no AI edit is recorded or metadata nonstandard; metadata may be edited or removed. Limitations. Absence proves nothing. Version/date. Fetched 2026-10-24 UTC. Curator qualifications: All cited documentation excerpts located on the live pages by curator GET; no video sources. Limitations: Page is the Android variant text; other platforms (iPhone, computer) tabs may differ. It does not say which IPTC fields are read. Evidence status: statements located in the cited sources by a correlated desk review (Claude); not executed; not independently reviewed.
