How does Inkscape 1.4.4 import PDF (internal importer vs --pdf-poppler), and what do its docs and source say about text, mesh/gradient, tiling, blend and clip handling?

Inkscape 1.4.4 imports PDF by default through an internal poppler-derived importer that keeps text as text and converts meshes to tiles. --pdf-poppler instead uses poppler's cairo backend, where text becomes cloned glyph groups and a mesh makes the page a raster. In the internal importer's source, PDF blend modes become CSS mix-blend-mode, only axial and radial shadings are supported (others fall back), the radial inner circle and tiling-pattern XStep/YStep are ignored (FIXMEs), soft-mask groups become SVG masks, and group isolated/knockout flags are unused.
