As of 2026-10-22, the ColorInterop 'bypass' ID issue is still open, and the OpenEXR recommendation was last edited on 2026-07-16. A maintainer's comment on that issue reads the current text this way: an ID other than 'unknown' that matches no colour space is an error that should ideally be shown to the user, while an application that doesn't recognise a new ID may treat it like any missing colour space, possibly by applying file rules. OpenEXR 3.5.0 added header colour-metadata validation helpers but no rule for unresolved IDs.

Maintainer comments are statements on an issue, not recommendation text. Prose-versus-flowchart difference (C2-B16-B2-01) carried from producer reading. Limitations: Public GitHub API reads 2026-10-22; no code built or files written. Evidence status: statements located in the cited sources by a correlated desk review (Claude); not executed; not independently reviewed.
