ARRI's ALF2 look files bundle creative intent with a display conversion, whereas ALF4 (ALEXA 35/265) is log-to-log: optional ASC CDL plus a Creative Modification Transform, with the display transform applied downstream; ALF4c carries custom display transforms and leaves colour management to the user. Looks travel in each clip's header, so transcoding loses them (link rather than import in Avid); spatial tools cannot live in a 3D LUT; and LogC3 LUTs cannot be converted to LogC4, so looks must be recreated.
